Since we now have water (albeit not the way we imagined), we were able to start the work on the land.
One part (for smaller dogs) has been fenced in already – to save on costs, Danijela bought all of the material and her dad helped her put it all up for free. The fence cost around €300 and the sand that was used to cover the ground (so that it wouldn’t become too muddy when it rains) cost about €35.
Likewise, we needed light to be able to see in the evening and at night. We bought four mast lights (each cost approximately €35) and Danijela’s dad installed them.
We are now looking into pouring concrete and fencing off more areas to be able to bring over the rest of the dogs. Jovica’s disabled and sick dogs will still stay with him at the other location, as they need special care around the clock, but Danijela will take a few of the healthier, partially rehabilitated dogs over, so that the city can’t file complaints anymore.
Finally, we also brought over some of the kennels we already had, bought some new ones, and had some donated to us – thank you, friends!
Altogether, we have spent a bit over €1,000 for the work so far.
Here are some pictures of the work that has been done:
